Tarmac’s rail operations have taken a starring turn in a new educational film with leading online children’s educational video platform, Toddler Fun Learning.
Filmed at Swinden Quarry and Cross Green asphalt and concrete plant in Yorkshire as part of the Gecko’s Real Vehicles series, the film is targeted at children under six and is the fifth collaboration between Toddler Fun Learning and the UK’s leading construction solutions business.
The short video sees cartoon character Gecko in the cab of a freight train operated by Tarmac’s regional freight partner, GB Railfreight, as well as exploring how raw material is excavated, processed and transported from a quarry right through to its end destination in buildings and infrastructure projects.
Since its release earlier this month it has proved very popular having already been watched more than 60,000 times.

People are often surprised to find out that Tarmac is one of the UK’s biggest users of rail freight, sustainably transporting millions of tonnes of construction materials across the UK every year for use in vital projects including hospitals, schools and roads.
“It was fantastic to welcome Gecko and the Toddler Fun Learning team to our operations in Yorkshire and we hope that children enjoy learning more about the exciting world of rail freight and construction.”
